Digitalization: Start Your Academic Career in Berlin!
Berlin is seeking the top minds in the field of digitalization and over the next few months is putting out the call for 50 new professorships. This marks the launch of a 38.5 million euro project for the German capital, the goal of which is to connect several institutions including Technische Universität Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Universität der Künste Berlin and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin with eight renowned research institutes and two universities of applied sciences into the Einstein Center Digital Future. This project, unique in Germany, has been made possible by funding from numerous partners in business and academia. These include 20 industrial enterprises, two federal ministries, and eight non-university research institutions, as well as the federal state of Berlin and the Governing Mayor of Berlin.
The new professors will be carrying out research in the Einstein Center Digital Future in four areas of research: the core area of "Digital Infrastructure, Methods and Algorithms" and the three innovation areas "Digital Health", "Digital Humanities and Society" and "Digital Industry and Services". The professorships are interdisciplinary, and research at the interfaces between disciplines is explicitly encouraged.
Come to live and work in the city where Konrad Zuse invented the first computer, where 180 nations gather and 171,000 young adults from Germany and abroad are studying. Come to the metropolis where walls come down and start-ups are being established every day. Berlin is buzzing with life around the clock and is set to become the digital hub for all of Europe - with you as a part of it!
The professorships are being funded in part through private financing from donations to the Einstein Foundation and the State of Berlin as well as joint appointments with long-standing research partners. Please note that the positions are conditional upon financing from the donors and partners. The universities aim to extend a number of temporary professorships. Additional professorships for Berlin will be advertised in the coming months and will be posted at www.be-digital.berlin.
