We are seeking excellent and enthusiastic researchers who have a strong passion to undertake innovative research on emotion and learning with Professor Michiko Sakaki, especially in the context of education research. Applicants can come from any of the following (or related) fields: cognitive science, psychophysiology, experimental psychology, educational psychology, social/personality psy-chology, neuroimaging, psychoneuroendocrinology, and aging (life-long learning). We especially give priority to researchers having expertise working with data from humans (not animal models), fMRI analysis, experimental programming and/or physiological data.
The positions come with a fixed-term contract for (initially) 3 years. The expected start date is Jan-uary 2023 but we are highly flexible and committed to accommodating candidates’ individual circum-stances. We offer the unique opportunity to join the LEAD Graduate School & Research Network (

For postdocs, there is also the possibility to participate in the institute's own postdoctoral academy PACE (Tübingen Postdoctoral Academy for Research on Education) which offers further training, coaching, and mentoring at postdoctoral level.
The successful candidate is expected to combine research on emotion and cognition with educa-tion sciences based on his/her expertise. This could take a variety of forms and the successful candi-date is expected to design and implement studies together with the PI and researchers at the Hector Research Institute, collect and analyze data, and write manuscripts. The primary supervisor is Pro-fessor Michiko Sakaki, the PI of the Affect and Learning Sciences lab at the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology. The candidate will be further co-supervised by other col-leagues at the University of Tübingen (e.g., Professor Kou Murayama), depending on his/her exper-tise. Our group aims to examine the interaction between emotions and learning using various tech-niques, including longitudinal survey studies, experimental approaches, experience sampling, neu-roimaging, computational modeling and psychophysiological measures. The Hector Research Insti-tute is a nationally and internationally leading research center in education sciences and psychology. Our highly interdisciplinary team works in a well-equipped building close to the historic old town of Tübingen, Germany. More information can be found at
