The electrochemical storage and conversion of energy is one of the key technologies for the realization of the energy transition and electromobility. As a partner of the "Center for Electrochemical Energy Storage Ulm-Karlsruhe" (CELEST), one of the world's largest research platforms in this field, Ulm University is involved in various research programs, such as the DFG-funded Cluster of Excellence POLiS and the European initiative BATTERY2030+.
The CELEST office is responsible for coordinating the participation of Ulm University and the other partners in CELEST (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Center for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg) in relevant programs. It supports the acquisition and realization of new projects and is active in the areas of science communication and technology transfer.
As project manager (m/f/d) of the CELEST office you will be involved in particular in the EU project Battery 2030+. In addition, you will support the CELEST members in writing and coordinating project proposals.
We offer a varied and challenging work environment with responsibility, creative freedom and versatile training opportunities through the University of Ulm. Employment and payment as well as other benefits are provided according to the rules of the public service (TV-L EG 13). The position is limited until August 31, 2023 and only conditionally suitable for part-time work.
This position provides the opportunity for independent scientific work in the topics described and supports your own scientific qualification.
The CELEST office is based both in Karlsruhe as well as in Ulm. Therefore, the place of employment may be either Karlsruhe or Ulm. Occasional travel between both offices will be necessary.

Your profile:
You obtained your PhD in natural sciences or engineering and have gained several years of professional experience in research. Broad scientific knowledge in energy storage topics is a plus. Ideally, you are also skilled in science management and project administration. You have excellent communication skills as well as an accomplished and professional appearance when interacting with different hierarchy levels. Excellent command of English and German in spoken and written completes your profile.
Your responsibilities:
In the EU project Battery2030PLUS:
You coordinate the update of the roadmap within the European large-scale research initiative Battery2030PLUS. Together with the partners in Battery2030PLUS, you monitor the research activities of the Battery2030+ initiative, evaluate technical documents, and write scientific reports. You develop standards, processes and protocols for experimental and theoretical battery research, and you engage in establishing and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders in the field of battery research nationally and internationally. You represent CELEST at meetings of the consortium partners.
Work at the CELEST office:
You support CELEST members in writing and coordinating project proposals. Furthermore, your tasks include moderating workshops, supporting appearances of CELEST at conference and trade fairs, as well as organizing topic-specific CELEST events.
