in machine learning and information processing, with the particular aim of improving cancer patient care by systematic image data analytics. As a partner in the Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration (HMC) of the
Helmholtz Association, we promote the development and establishment of new concepts and technologies in the context of metadata, which provides the necessary context information for finding, interpreting or
reusing data, methods, and experiments in health data analytics.
Working in this highly dynamic and exciting area between AI, medical research, cloud technologies and state-of-the-art software development, we seek two motivated computer scientists or software engineers to
join our team.
Job description:
The selected candidates will work on interdisciplinary and cross-institutional projects, advancing the field of metadata research and application with exciting developments in current research topics in life sciences.
Specific responsibilities would be:
- You develop methods and tools to help make data and machine learning models visible, accessible and usable. Application areas are in medical imaging and other life science research areas.
- You advise on and contribute to domain-specific vocabularies, ontologies, and metadata schemes and support life science researchers in their metadata management and implementation of the FAIR principles.
- You help build a vivid community within the research domain Health in the Helmholtz Association and establish links to national and international consortia and platforms.
- You prepare position papers and publications.
Requirements:
We are looking for scientists in the field of AI, who are keen to work on collaborative projects on applied AI and software development. The requirements are:
- PhD and/or master's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, bioinformatics, medical informatics, computational biology or related fields
- Analytical and software development skills with an interest in data management or standards in the medical research domain and some experience in one of the languages Python, C++, Java, JavaScript, or Bash
- Secure and proactive communication with stakeholders and network partners
- Knowledge and experience in linked (open) data and semantic web technologies would be a plus
- Excellent English communication skills, German is beneficial
