Assistant Professor (f/m/d) with Tenure Track for Diabetes Technology - Sensing and Smart Monitoring

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern is one of five medical faculties in Switzerland. Biotechnological research is one of its strategic priorities. Together with the Diabetes Center Berne (DCB), which is a platform of the Swiss
Institute for Translational and Entrepreneurial Medicine (sitem-insel), four professorships in the field of diabetes technology research were recently created. These positions will be attached academically to the University Department of
Diabetes, Endocrinology, Nutritional Medicine and Metabolism (UDEM) at Inselspital, University Hospital Bern.
The Faculty of Medicine opens the call for the position as follows:
Assistant Professor with Tenure Track for Diabetes Technology
Post: Sensing and Smart Monitoring
and to be occupied by January 1, 2021 or upon agreement.
For this position, a strong, independent academic track record and a background in engineering sciences and medical technology are expected. In addition, highly developed data science competences in algorithms and machine
learning as well as experience with integration of sensors und application systems are required. Experience with in vivo
studies (humans and/or large animals) as well as knowledge of regulatory aspects and authorization of medical devices will be considered a plus, as will be experience/knowledge regarding algorithms/artificial intelligence.
For this Professorship, a focus on biosensor technology and bio-analytics, knowledge of sensing/measurement
technology, including smart monitoring, and experience in micro-technology/microsystems technology and manufacturing are also required.
