The Chair of Sustainable Supply Chain Management led by Prof. Miriam Wilhelm at the WU Department of Information Systems and Operations Management is looking to hire (a) teaching and research associate(s) (Universitätsassistent/in prae doc) and an assistant professor (Universitätsassistent/in post doc non-tenure track). The positions involve research in the core area of the chair and teaching in the MSc program Supply Chain Management and the Bachelor’s Programs in Business, Economics and Social Sciences as well as Business & Economics. The Chair is firmly embedded in the international Supply Chain scholarly community, and the position aims at helping junior researchers to start a successful academic career.
What to expect
For teaching and research associate (Universitätsassistent/in prae doc) positions:
The successful candidate(s) will pursue the Ph.D program at the WU Department of Information Systems and Operations Management. Your main duties include research,
teaching, and administrative tasks. You will conduct an independent empirical research project in the area of Sustainable Supply Chain Management. Based on this research,
you will write a cumulative dissertation. During this process, you will receive very regular and substantive feedback and support from Prof. Wilhelm, the first supervisor
of your dissertation.
For assistant professor (Universitätsassistent/in post doc non-tenure track):
The successful candidate will be provided with opportunities to build up a solid track-record of publications in top-tier international academic peer-reviewed journals, and build an
international network. Your main duties include research, teaching, and administrative tasks. You will receive very regular and highly substantive feedback and support from Prof. Wilhelm.
What you have to offer
For teaching and research associate (Universitätsassistent/in prae doc) positions:
- a diploma/master’s degree in with excellent grades that qualifies you for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU
- international experience during your degree program or in a professional context, and excellent command of English
- experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or at least willingness to learn
- good interpersonal skills and ability to work individually and with a team
- organizational qualities and excellent communication skills
- Candidates will be expected to teach courses in German in the Bachelor’s degree program after one year
For assistant professor (Universitätsassistent/in post doc non-tenure track):
You have a doctorate or PhD degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field with a focus on empirical research (qualitative and/or quantitative). You should have the ability to
conduct high-quality, creative research in the area of Sustainable Supply Chain Management and publish your work in high-ranked international journals. To qualify you should have:
- a PhD in Supply Chain Management
- an expertise in the above-mentioned field proven by the ability (or the potential) to publish in top-tier international academic peer-reviewed journals
- a proven interest and ability in developing courses and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level and in mentoring students
- experience in using multimedia teaching and learning formats or at least willingness to learn
- good interpersonal skills and ability to work individually and with a team
- organizational qualities and excellent communication skills
- potential to generate external funding for research projects
- Non-German-speaking candidates will be expected to acquire proficiency in German over a certain period of time

The minimum monthly gross salary for the assistant professor (Universitätsassistent/in post doc non-tenure track) amounts to €4,061.50 (14 times per year). The minimum monthly gross salary
for the teaching and research associate (Universitätsassistent/in prae doc) positions amounts to 2,293.95 (14 times per year). This salary may be adjusted based on equivalent (post doc) or
job-related (prae doc) prior work experience. In addition, we offer a wide range of attractive social benefits.
