The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Medicine and Health; within the school the professorship will become part of the Department of RadiationOncology and/or the Division of Neuroradiology at the TUM university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar. Close collaborations within the School of Medicine and Health, with TUM’s life science and computer science schools, with scientists from LMU and non-university research institutions, as well as TUM’s established collaborative research centers foster an outstanding scientific environment.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to strengthen TUM’s focus on precision medicine and thus to appoint an expert in the interdisciplinary research area of medicine and computer science to develop innovative AI-based models for clinical decision support and individualized therapies, with emphasis on neurooncology as well as image analysis. Teaching responsibilities include courses at TUM School of Medicine and Health as well as responsibilities in the university’s bachelor and master programs. In addition, we expect successful candidates to engage in interdisciplinary and innovative teaching formats.
We are looking for candidates with outstanding scientific experience and qualifications, as demonstrated by achievements in research and teaching at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, the proven ability to attract third-party funding and a clear commitment to do interdisciplinary research are required. We expect successful candidates to build strong collaborations with clinical partners and highly encourage close clinical interactions, e.g. in interdisciplinary tumor boards. Therefore, a university degree in human medicine and a specialization in the field of (neuro)radiology or radio-oncology are prerequisite.
