Assoziierte Professur für Wissenschaftsgeschichte
Die neue Professur ist an der School of Humanities and Social Sciences der Universität St.Gallen angesiedelt und auf den 1.8.2023 zu besetzen.
Gewünscht ist eine Ausrichtung in Forschung und Lehre auf das 20. und 21. Jahrhundert. Wissenschaftsgeschichte ist dabei im umfassenden Sinne zu verstehen. Bewerbende können sich auf ein beliebiges Gebiet der Wissenschaften konzentrieren, einschliesslich der Medizin, der Sozial-, Wirtschafts-, Umwelt-, Ingenieur- und Computerwissenschaften. Darüber hinaus interessieren uns Perspektiven auf das Spannungsfeld von Wissenschaft, Technik, Gesellschaft und Wirtschaft, wie es sich zum Beispiel in Digitalisierungsprozessen, in Widerstand gegen die Wissenschaft, in der Klimabewegung, in der Startup-Szene oder der Beratungsindustrie zeigt.
Voraussetzungen für eine erfolgreiche Bewerbung sind eine exzellente Promotion und Habilitation oder eine habilitationsäquivalente Leistung sowie ein hervorragender Leistungsausweis in Forschung und Lehre.
Von den Bewerberinnen und Bewerbern wird die Bereitschaft zur Lehre auf allen Studienstufen (BA-, MA- und PhD) erwartet, besonders im Rahmen des Kontextstudiums, das ein zentraler Pfeiler des integrativen und ganzheitlichen Ansatzes der HSG ist. Das Lehrdeputat beträgt 8 Semesterwochenstunden.
Die Amtssprache der Universität ist Deutsch. Ausreichende passive Deutschkenntnisse sind binnen zwei Jahren zu erbringen.

The SHSS is seeking to appoint a candidate whose research and teaching are oriented towards the 20th and 21st centuries. “Science” is to be understood in the comprehensive sense of “Wis-senschaften”. The postholder may focus on any area of science, broadly construed, including the medical, social, economic, environmental, engineering and computational sciences. We are also interested in candidates whose work considers the tension between science, technology, society and economy, as evident, for instance, in digitisation, in the resistance to science, in the climate movement, in the start-up scene or in the consulting industry.
Requirements: The postholder must have completed an excellent doctoral dissertation and habil-itation thesis (or provide evidence of an equivalent academic achievement). We also expect an outstanding track record in research and teaching.
Applicants are expected to be willing to teach at the BA, MA and PhD levels, especially in the Contextual Studies Programme, which is central to the University of St.Gallen’s integrative ap-proach. The teaching load of this full-time position is 8 hours per week.
