Your salary will be based on TV-L
Analysis of international and in-house large scale genomic and transcriptomic next generation sequencing (NGS) data sets for the identification of small somatic and germline variants, somatic copy number alterations, mutation profiles and transcriptomic groups
Mapping of NGS-derived germline variants to data of genome-wide association studies
Analysis of array-based single nucleotide polymorphism and DNA methylation data
Integrative omics data analyses
Completed university education in bioinformatics, computer / data sciences, physics, mathematics, biology or similar subject
Strong experience in the area of NGS data analyses
Ability to program and experience working with Linux systems are a prerequisite
Knowledge of genomics, transcriptomics, or epigenomics is desirable
Knowledge in artificial intelligence approaches would be a plus
Good team and communication skills, ability to work independently
We provide and have access to large scale genomics, transcriptomics and epigenomics data sets
The basic science project aims at connecting germline risk profiles with somatic molecular features
We use the computational infrastructure of the University of Cologne and have vibrant discussions within our team and with local research groups

We are a cancer genomics group in the Institute of Pathology which has internationally competitive collections of clinical samples. The University Hospital Cologne is one of Europe’s largest centers for gastroesophageal cancers, the main focus of the project. We have a broad spectrum of seminars and an intense scientific exchange with the research community on campus and national and international collaborators.
