The Tübingen AI Center is part of the success story of the Germany’s strategy for artificial intel­ligence. It is one of the five national Centers of excel­lence for research on artificial intel­ligence. Center Coordinator (m/f/div)

Your Tasks and Responsibilities

• Supporting the board of directors in all matters of plan­ning, including the strategic deve­lopment of the Tübingen AI Center
• Preparing budget plans, proposals, and eva­luation reports, and commu­nicating with funding agencies (BMBF, MWK)
• Planing and managing the recruiting process for new research group leaders, including supporting infra­structure and resources
• Organizing internal funding programs
• Coordinating scientific activities and re­search cooperation with academic and industry part­ners, including collaboration contracts
• Coordinating with related initia­tives including Cyber Valley and ELLIS
• Liaising with relevant stake­holders from universities and research institu­tions, including key partners in Germany’s national AI strategy
• Preparing presentations and organizing scientific events
• Overseeing daily adminis­trative tasks

These tasks and responsi­bilities are handled in close cooperation with the Tübingen AI Center office at the University of Tübingen.

Your profile

• Completed scientific higher education, preferably PhD
• Ideally, you have a back­ground in natural sciences or engineering (computer science, mathema­tics, physics, or similar field)
• Excellent command of both German and English (at least C1 level)
• Ideally, expe­rience in public or private research manage­ment or experience in industry research
• Very strong management and organi­zational skills and experience in project management
• Great interpersonal and communi­cation skills
• You are a team player and you work in an independent and responsible way
• A high level of resilience and professionalism

Our Offer

You will become part of the Scientific Coor­dination Office at the Max Planck Institute for Intel­ligent Systems and work closely with administrative staff, other research coor­dinators, scientist, and the Tübingen AI Center office at the University of Tübingen to help achieve the scientific goals of the Center. Salaries will be compe­titive and based on experience according to TVöD guide­lines. An initial contract will be offered for two years with the possibility of extension. This is a full-time position.
