The Tübingen AI Center is part of the success story of the Germany’s strategy for artificial intelligence. It is one of the five national Centers of excellence for
research on artificial intelligence. The Tübingen AI Center is a research institute for machine learning, jointly operated by the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent
Systems and the University of Tübingen.
The Tübingen AI Center is an integral part of Cyber Valley and closely related to the European Laboratory for Learning and
Intelligent Systems.
To help build the Tübingen AI Center, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems seeks to hire a
Center Coordinator (m/f/div)
Your Tasks and Responsibilities
- Supporting the board of directors in all matters of planning, including the strategic development of the Tübingen AI Center
- Preparing budget plans, proposals, and evaluation reports, and communicating with funding agencies (BMBF, MWK)
- Planing and managing the recruiting process for new research group leaders, including supporting infrastructure and resources
- Organizing internal funding programs
- Coordinating scientific activities and research cooperation with academic and industry partners, including collaboration contracts
- Coordinating with related initiatives including Cyber Valley and ELLIS
- Liaising with relevant stakeholders from universities and research institutions, including key partners in Germany’s national AI strategy
- Preparing presentations and organizing scientific events
- Overseeing daily administrative tasks
These tasks and responsibilities are handled in close cooperation with the Tübingen AI Center office at the University of Tübingen.
Your profile
- Completed scientific higher education, preferably PhD
- Ideally, you have a background in natural sciences or engineering (computer science, mathematics, physics, or similar field)
- Excellent command of both German and English (at least C1 level)
- Ideally, experience in public or private research management or experience in industry research
- Very strong management and organizational skills and experience in project management
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- You are a team player and you work in an independent and responsible way
- A high level of resilience and professionalism
Our Offer
You will become part of the Scientific Coordination Office at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and work closely with administrative staff, other research coordinators, scientist, and the Tübingen AI Center office at the University of Tübingen to help achieve the scientific goals of the Center. Salaries will be competitive and based on experience according to TVöD guidelines. An initial contract will be offered for two years with the possibility of extension. This is a full-time position.
