Director of PMOD/WRC
The PMOD/WRC is a renowned reference laboratory and research institution supported by the Swiss
Confederation, the Canton of the Grisons, and the municipality of Davos, operated under the auspices
of the Foundation Swiss Research Institute for High Mountain Climate and Medicine, Davos (SFI).
The institute conducts research and development ranging from the terrestrial radiation balance, solar
physics and climate modelling to the international standardization of irradiance measurements and the
design and manufacturing of radiometers for space experiments. On behalf of the World Meteorological
Organization (WMO) and the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology (MeteoSwiss), the PMOD/
WRC maintains and operates the World Standard Group of radiometers. It develops and produces high
precision instruments for ground and space-based applications and has a heritage of several developed,
built and flown space experiments.
The successful applicant will ensure that PMOD/WRC sustains the core of expertise in solar radiation
metrology, also for space-borne instrumentation. She or he should have an outstanding track record
in research in radiation physics, space technology, Earth observation, or a related area, with a strong
personal network reaching into the associated communities, as well as excellent leadership capabilities.
The working and living place will be Davos.
Furthermore, an outstanding successful candidate can be nominated as Affiliated Professor at ETH
Zurich in the Department of Physics. This would ensure full access to all technical, research and ICT
infrastructure at ETH, participation in teaching activities and in recruiting Masters and PhD students.

a motivation letter with a statement of future preferred research and teaching interests, and a description
