Doctoral and/or Postdoc Research Positions (m/f/div) The position is available immediately, with a negotiable start date. The doctoral researcher will work on a three-year-doctoral-program and the postdoctoral position is initially for 12 months, with opportunity for renewal.

Our research group characterizes small metalorganic complexes, metalloproteins, and radical complexes by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. We employ a variety of advanced pulsed EPR techniques, including ENDOR, HYSCORE, and EDNMR to resolve both hyperfine and quadrupole nuclear interactions, informing us further of electronic and magnetic structure, covalency, and ligand identity. Familiarity with these techniques is favored for potential postdoc candidates (but not a requirement, particularly for doctoral candidates). Various potential projects are available, including the characterization of either metalloprotein intermediates, synthesis and characterization of iron-sulfur clusters, or synthesize and characterization of copper biomimetic complexes. Inorganic synthesis experience is preferred for some projects. All projects will focus on EPR spectroscopy but will have opportunities for other inorganic spectroscopic techniques (X-ray absorption, emission, Mössbauer, etc.). Successful candidates will be integrated into our research group, with laboratories locations at both the MPI-CEC and UDE.

Your qualifications:

• Completed master’s degree in chemistry or closely related field for PhD applicants; a completed PhD in inorganic / physical chemistry or a closely related field for postdoctoral candidates
• Documented scientific achievements
• Fluency in both written and spoken English
• Eagerness to learn new techniques
• Talent to work as part of a team and collaboratively
