The University of Education is a specialized institution focused in teaching and a
strong research profile on education and health sciences.
The Institute for Everyday Culture, Sports and Health, Dept. Public Health & Health
Education, at the University of Education in Freiburg is looking for a
starting from January 1st, 2020 to conduct research on conflicts of interest within
the recently granted DFG-Research Group "HELICAP" (Health literacy in early
childhood allergy prevention: parental competencies and public health context in a
shifting evidence landscape).
The contract is fixed term for a period of 3 years but an extension of further 3 years
Your main tasks comprise:
Systematic comprehensive standardised quality assessment of national and
international guidelines concerning early childhood allergy prevention and child
nutrition according to established methods
Quantification of conflict of interest in such guidelines (descriptive and exploratory
Exploring the merits of social network analysis to elicit conflict of interest in guideline
Presentation and publication of scientific results, e.g. in scientific papers and
Intense scientific exchange among members of the DFG-Research Group and
international collaboration partners
Ideal candidates should meet the following selection criteria:
A very good university degree (MSc or equivalent) in Health Sciences, Epidemiology,
Public Health, Psychology (or similar field)
Willingness to qualify to PhD level
Experience in the conduct of systematic reviews and/or clinical guidelines (preferably
in Health or Nutrition Sciences)
Strong interest in innovative tools for visualising social networks
Strong skills in statistical data analysis including the use of statistical analysis
software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, and/or R Software)
Fluency in spoken and written English, and proven ability to write concise and
clear manuscripts and proposals
Basic German language skills are advantageous
Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment
An excellent opportunity to work within an interdisciplinary and highly renowned
