As a doctoral student, you will advance the research frontier in your chosen field while at the same time gaining a broad perspective on computer science.
Part of the world-renowned network of Max Planck research institutes (MPIs), MPI-SWS offers doctoral programs in collaboration with top national and international universities and provides a unique research environment encompassing theoretical, empirical, and data-driven approaches, and both core computer science and interdisciplinary aspects.
As a graduate student at MPI-SWS, you will join a vibrant community of world-class researchers and start off into research from day one. MPI-SWS will support you with individual training and mentorship from faculty, will teach you to communicate your results effectively to a wide audience, and will assist you with financial support for the duration of the program.
Admission to the graduate program is highly competitive. Successful candidates should have an outstanding academic record. A Bachelor‘s degree or a Master‘s degree in Computer Science or a related field from a top-tier university or institute of higher education, and proficiency in spoken and written English, are essential requirements. Candidates should also bring creativity and a talent for research as part of a dynamic multi-cultural team. The institute language is English; knowledge of the German language is not required. Language classes are however available to those who want to immerse themselves in the local environment.
Applications can be submitted at mpi-sws.org/AC/join-us
