DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Energy Modelling and Economics
The Energy Economics and System Analysis (EESY) Section at DTU Management invites applications for a position as an Assistant Professor in “Energy Modelling and Economics”. The section provides tools and expertise, supporting national and international policy making in the green transition of energy systems. The section offers an excellent research environment with international staff, postdocs, and PhD students.
The overall research question of the section is how energy systems can be decarbonised and how to design and operate systems and markets with large amounts of variable renewable energy. The section develops energy system models that integrate all energy carriers and sectors that at the same time enable a cost-efficient integration of low-carbon technologies in the energy system. This provides decision support for diverse stakeholders from both, policymaking and industry, in the context of the energy transition.

Responsibilities and qualifications
DTU’s vision is technological research to help societies transition rapidly to a green and sustainable world. With the announced positions, DTU wishes to strengthen our capacity for supporting this transition.
The position is offered within one or more of the following research areas:
- Energy supply and demand analysis
- Socio-economic analysis of energy consumption
- Societal acceptance of energy technologies
- Integration of renewable energies into the energy system
- Sector coupling (power, heat, gas and transport)
We are looking for candidates with a background within Economics, Systems Engineering or Operational Research.
Your main activities will include:
- Conducting excellent research in one the above mentioned research areas and developing a strong and visible research profile
- Teaching in courses possibly within economics, modelling or operational research
- Attracting external funding to the field of research
You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. You will be expected to learn Danish and be able to teach in Danish after 3 years. DTU can provide Danish language courses.
As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The salary for the position will be determined by the applicants qualifications and in agreement with the relevant union.
