Early Career Research Group Leader (f/m/d) in the research area of Privacy, Fairness or Transparency in Machine Learning
The Tübingen AI Center aims to foster a world-class research ecosystem in the field of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
The Center is one of four competence centers recently funded by Germany's Ministry of Education and Research with seven million euros
for an initial four years and will provide research groups at the University of Tübingen (UT) and at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent
Systems (MPI-IS) with a place to develop learning systems. It is part of the major Cyber Valley initiative in the Stuttgart-Tübingen region,
where many partners in academia and industry have joined forces to work in the area of artificial intelligence. The Tübingen AI Center is
soliciting applications for the position of an
Early Career Research Group Leader (100%/m/f/d)
in the research area of Privacy, Fairness or Transparency in Machine Learning.
For example, the research could address how machine learning approaches can be used with sensitive datasets using techniques like Differential Privacy, Data Analysis Trains, approaches that are based on Blockchain-technologies or other emerging methods.
Applicants should have finished their PhD in Machine Learning or a related field not more than three years ago and have a highly promising track record documented by publications at leading conferences or journals. Besides scientific excellence,
a keen interest in the topic of privacy, fairness or transparency in machine learning and interdisciplinary exchange within the center and the broader Tübingen research campus is crucial. The main work location is Tübingen.
Salary and benefits will be paid according to the German Collective Wage Agreement TVöD Bund (pay group E15) and comes with funding for four PhD students.
The position is initially limited to the 31st of July 2022 but there is a possibility of extension. The Max Planck Society is committed to employing more
