The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
of » Psychiatry and Psychotherapy «
to begin at 1 October 2020. The professorship is a tenured W3 position. The Full Professor will be appointed Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at TUM‘s university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar.
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine, one of Germany‘s top medical schools in research and teaching, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary and translational research. The Cluster of Excellence SyNergy, collaborations with the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and close interactions with TUM‘s natural and engineering sciences promote an excellent scientific environment.
The responsibilities of the position include research and teaching, patient care and clinical service in the complete area of psychiatry and psychotherapy, as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and fundamentals courses offered by the department, as well as courses for other TUM departments.
We are looking for a high-profile candidate with an international reputation, who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Board certification in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy is required.
Substantial clinical and leadership competence as well as leadership quality, research experience abroad, and a proven ability to establish, acquire and lead competitive and cooperative research projects are required.
Candidates are expected to be fully committed to collaborate with scientists at the TUM School of Medicine and at the university hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar, as well as with scientist at other TUM schools and academic departments, and to participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations. Scientific participation in existing and future national and international pertinent research networks (e.g. SyNergy Cluster, DZNE, German Center for Mental Health) are expected.

As a rule, the holder of this professorship is not employed as a „Beamter“ under German law. The duties related to patient care as Director of the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, including the right to bill additional fees, are to be regulated separately in a head physician contract with the university hospital‘s board of management.
