The Faculty of Agricultural Sciences invites applications for the
position of a
Full Professor (W3) of Animal
Breeding and Husbandry in
the Tropics and Subtropics
at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences in the Tropics (Hans-Ruthenberg Institute) to be filled in winter semester 2017/18.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct innovative
research in (sub)tropical livestock breeding and genetics with a
focus on conserving and utilizing genetic diversity, breeding for
robustness, and designing and evaluating breeding schemes.
Fields of research may also include quantitative systems analysis
of livestock husbandry in the (Sub)Tropics. The candidate
must have a strong record of independent research as well as
third-party funding acquisition.
The successful candidate will teach Animal Breeding and
Husbandry in the Tropics and Subtropics in the study programs
of the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences and will participate in
teaching in the Faculty of Natural Sciences.
The position offers attractive conditions for first-time full professor
appointees. Prerequisites for applicants are habilitation or
an equivalent research and teaching record that may have been
established during a Junior or Assistant Professorship.
The advertised position is tenured. If appointed as full professor
for the first time, the University of Hohenheim reserves its right
