GROUP LEADER POSITION
SINGLE-CELL MICROBIOLOGY
The Institute of Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB), as part of the Research Centre for Infectious
Diseases (ZINF) of the University of Würzburg, seeks to recruit a new group leader. We are
interested in microbiologists in the early phase of their career who have already earned recognition in
the following research areas:
Single-cell approaches
Phenotypic heterogeneity in bacteria
Phage biology
Candidates with projects in the area of pathogen-host interactions are preferred, but all outstanding
microbiologists are encouraged to apply. We will also assume an interest in applying single-cell RNAseq
and spatial transcriptomics approaches. The position includes laboratory operating expenses and
additional salaries. We also plan to offer an affiliation with the local Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based
Infection Research. Laboratory space will be provided in a state-of-the-art research building with biocontainment,
molecular imaging, high-throughput genomics, and animal facilities. The building is
specifically designed to foster collaborative research, and houses several additional young
investigator groups as well as laboratories run by faculty members. See
www.imib-wuerzburg.de for
more information.
The position can be filled in full- or part-time as soon as possible and will be initially limited to 5 years.
Salary will be based on the pay scale for the public sector in Germany (TV-L) and depends on
training and experience. The University aims to increase the proportion of female employees,
therefore applications from qualified women are particularly welcome. Preference will be given to
handicapped persons in case of otherwise equal aptitude.
Applicants are welcome to
make informal inquiries about the post to the institute chair, Prof.
Jörg Vogel (
joerg.vogel@uni-wuerzburg.de).
Please send your application as
a single PDF file including your CV, list of publication, a short
description of research interests and future directions and at least two academic references
by March 31st, 2021 to Ms Monika Schraut (
