The Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) in Mannheim is seeking to hire a
Head of a Junior Research Group
"Economics of Public Procurement"
The newly set-up group offers exceptionally promising junior researchers an important opportunity on their career ladder. As head of the junior research
group the successful applicant can run his or her own working group at an early stage and engage in independent research. The focus of the group will be
empirical public finance with a special emphasis on issues related to public procurement in Europe. Candidates should be interested to develop the academic
public procurement research agenda, to contribute to an excellent publication record, and, based on rigorous research, to advise national and European
authorities on public procurement reform options. Teaching is not expected.
Candidates should have a strong postdoctoral research record and a sound knowledge of theory and quantitative methods in public finance with links to
public procurement topics. He or she is expected to be able to build up a research program and to lead a small team as the head of an independent research
group (funding for 2 PhD students is provided). Knowledge of German would be an advantage, but is not essential. A willingness to learn German language
skills is however a requirement. Fluency in English is required.

is explicitly supported, e.g., by facilitating fellowships at renowned research institutions abroad. The position will be for an initial period of three
years with a possibility to extend for another three years with a tenure option. Remuneration is competitive (TV-L E 14, 100%) and based on the TVL
statutory salary scale and its associated public sector benefits.
