The Leibniz-Institut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is an internationally renowned
research institute located on the life science campus Berlin-Buch. As a member of the
Leibniz Association and the Forschungsverbund Berlin e. V. it is funded in equal parts
by the federal government and the state of Berlin.
We are looking for an
Independent Group Leader
in Mass Spectrometry & Proteomics
to lead a research group and to head the mass spectrometry core facility within the
Chemical Biology Division of the FMP.
The FMP invites applications for an expert in mass spectrometry-based proteomics
at the group leader level. The candidate will establish an independent research group
in a vibrant research area of his/her interest.
The applicant is familiar with quantitative methods to characterize proteins and their
interaction partners (such as other proteins, lipids, metabolites) as well as their posttranslational
modifications in different systems ranging from organismic and cellular
studies to in vitro experiments. The candidate will take responsibility for implementing
modern quantitative proteomics methods, including computational bioinformatics
approaches for data mining and analysis. It is also expected that the candidate takes
part in collaborative proteomics-bases studies within the FMP and the research campus
in Berlin-Buch. In addition to the group leader, the mass spectrometry core facility will
comprise further staff.
A PhD degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry/Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biophysics
or a closely related field.
A strong practical and theoretical background and publication record in mass spectrometry-
based proteomics including experience in the use and development of proteomic
Proven ability to carry out innovative, independent research and to collaborate.
Excellent communication skills and scientific writing proficiency are expected.
Competitive applicants for the position should have a minimum of two years of postdoctoral
experience with sustained research productivity.
