The
Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) in Jena is a federal and state government-funded
research institute and member of the Leibniz Association (Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz
e.V.). FLI’ s internationally visible and highly competitive research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of
aging and associated age-related diseases. Scientists from over 40 countries are currently investigating the
molecular mechanisms of aging and the occurrence of age-related diseases. Our aim is to create the basis for new
approaches in medicine as a way to improve the health of the elderly (

Artificial Intelligence in Microbiome and Aging Research
The
Junior Research Group "Artificial Intelligence in Microbiome and Aging Research" is initially funded by
the Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung and can be extended for a maximum period of up to 9 years. We offer an internationally
highly competitive start-up and funding package. The Group will be integrated in the FLI research focus
“Functional Microbiota-Host Interactions during Aging”.
We are looking for an outstanding scientist with a PhD in data science/bioinformatics or related fields. The
successful candidate has a visible publication record in the development and/or application of artificial intelligence
methods in biomedical sciences.
Scientists within the research focus “Functional Microbiota-Host Interactions during Aging'' participate in a vibrant,
interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and highly collaborative research community within the FLI, and enjoy access
to state-of-art research core facilities including imaging, proteomics, bioinformatics, genomics, and availability of a
range of model organisms, including nematode worms, zebrafish, killifish and mice. The Leibniz Institute on Aging
- Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) provides extensive administrative support to the Junior Group Leaders.
