The
Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) in Jena is a federal and state government-funded
research institute and member of the Leibniz Association (Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz
e.V.). FLI’ s internationally visible and highly competitive research is focused on understanding the mechanisms of
aging and associated age-related diseases. Scientists from over 40 countries are currently investigating the
molecular mechanisms of aging and the occurrence of age-related diseases. Our aim is to create the basis for new
approaches in medicine as a way to improve the health of the elderly (

We invite applications for
Junior Group Leaders (m/f/d)
The
Junior Group Leader program of the FLI offers highly competitive funding and start-up packages at
international levels. Junior groups are funded for 5 + 4 years.
Our newly established research area
“Functional Microbiota-Host Interactions during Aging'' invites
applications for independent junior group leader positions in a range of fields, including metabolism/metabolomics,
molecular genetics, epigenetics or computational biology. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology
or related fields and have conducted successful postdoctoral research. We seek outstanding scientists interested
in developing a research program that explores molecular, biochemical or genetic aspects of host-microbiome
interactions in the context of biology of aging. We also encourage applicants with a background in microbiology,
biophysics, or bioinformatics.
Diversity and inclusion is a priority at the Leibniz Institute on Aging - Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) at all
levels, including faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
Scientists within the research focus “Functional Microbiota-Host Interactions during Aging'' participate in a vibrant,
interdisciplinary, interdepartmental, and highly collaborative research community within the FLI, and enjoy access
to state-of-art research core facilities including imaging, proteomics, bioinformatics, genomics, and availability of a
range of model organisms, including nematode worms, zebrafish, killifish and mice. The Leibniz Institute on Aging
- Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) provides extensive administrative support to the Junior Group Leaders.
We offer:
- The package consists of full salary for the group leader (according to the salary level TV-L E15), 1 Postdoc, 1
