Junior Professorship (untenured) in Neuroethology

The Department of Biology in the Faculty of Sciences seeks to fill this position by
January 1, 2023. The position is limited to a maximum of six years.

We are interested in an early career researcher with broad expertise in Behavioural Research and Neuroscience, preferably with a focus on visual processing underlying natural behaviour. The ideal candidate
will complement our research focus in Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour at the University of Konstanz with an original research program and it is expected to contribute and integrate into our joined research
initiatives (for example
EXC CB).
Researchers studying animal behaviour and its underlying neural control in insects and with an expertise in bridging current knowledge across different disciplines (e.g. Neurobiology, Behavioural Research, Visual Computing and Robotics) are encouraged to apply. The candidate is expected to have intensive international research experience, as well as experience in insect neuroanatomy and neurophysiology.
The candidate is expected to teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs in Biology and to foster our interdisciplinary teaching curriculum. We are interested in early career researchers who have an excellent international publication record, exhibit strong skills in the classroom and successfully communicate their research to broad audiences.
Recruitment requirements are a university degree and a doctorate or PhD within the last 6 years. In addition, the candidate must have acquired a significant amount of funding for their own position (e.g. Emmy Noether).
In all other respects, the hiring requirements for junior professorships follow from § 51 (2,3) of the Landeshochschulgesetz. The details of junior professorships at the University of Konstanz, particularly the interim and final evaluation, are governed by § 51 (7) of the Landeshochschulgesetz and the procedural regulations for junior professorships and junior lectureships without tenure track (§§ 51, 51a LHG), available online.
