April 1, 2024. If the interim evaluation, which usually takes place in the fourth year, is positive, the employment relationship will be extended to a total of six years. At the latest in the fifth year, a tenure evaluation will be carried out by an inter-faculty and inter-departmental commission. If the tenure decision is positive and the appointment requirements are met, the candidate will be appointed to a permanent Chair (W2) of Didactics of History.
The evaluation criteria will be mutually agreed upon when the position is accepted and will form the basis of the evaluation procedure. The essential performance criteria include academic success in the form of relevant and high-quality publications, the acquisition of research funds as well as the corresponding project management, commitment and success in teaching as well as in the promotion of early-career researchers, networking in the academic community as well as a commitment to academic self-administration.
You (m/f/x) will represent the above-mentioned academic field in its entire spectrum in research and teaching within the degree programs of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science, actively participate in the design and advancement of the Bachelor‘s and Master‘s degree programs as well as of the State Examination programs, and participate in academic self-administration. With its research focus “Societal Change”, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences is part of the university’s Emerging Fields. Moreover, the training of future teachers is of key importance, making subject didactics highly relevant, especially at the Institute of History. A team of ten university lecturers as well as additional lecturers and employees is looking forward to receiving your application and to working with you. The position will entail close cooperation with the bodies and institutions involved in the training of history teachers in Dresden and Saxony, in particular with the Center for Teacher Education and Educational Research and the University School Dresden. Moreover, we expect your willingness to actively participate in TU Dresden‘s didactics forum as well as in interdisciplinary didactics research projects and the acquisition of third-party funding for didactics projects and in interdisciplinary collaborative projects.
This junior professorship with tenure track is aimed at scientists in a very early career phase with an extraordinary potential for a further career in science. We wish for a personality with a research focus is in the field of empirical history education research, reflective and skills-based history education, or teaching and learning in times of digital change. Additionally, you have submitted relevant project proposals or have planned or successfully acquired third-party funding, and you have teaching experience at a university. We expect you to have a university degree in history (1st State Examination or Master of Education) and an excellent doctorate in history didactics. You should also have experience in teaching history to school students. Furthermore, you should have additional academic achievements in history didactics, in particular publications in peer-reviewed journals, participation in curricula design, or the development of teaching materials.
