JUNIOR PROFESSORSHIP (W1) WITH TENURE TRACK TO ASSOCIATE PROFESSORSHIP (W2) IN THE AREA OF
MACHINE LEARNING IN VIRTUAL MATERIALS DESIGN

We are looking for a candidate with a proven track record at the interface between machine learning and modelling of materials. In the modelling of materials, the candidate’s research should preferably focus on the continuum scale and related methods such as the finite element method. In machine learning, their research should ideally focus on the following areas:

• Methods for the efficient coupling of theory-based computer simulations and machine learning in materials research
• Machine learning for linking theory-based computer simulations with materials data from mechanical experiments and imaging
• Methods for exploiting big data

Due to their high complexity, biological systems are one of the most important application areas of data-based methods and machine learning. Therefore, candidates should ideally have proven expertise at the interface between imaging, materials science, biology and medicine.
