The Helmholtz Institute HI-TRON is a collaboration of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) with the Research Institute for Translational Oncology at the University Medical Center of the
Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (TRON gGmbH), the University Medical Center Mainz and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The goal of the partnership is to develop effective
immunotherapies and to identify novel biomarkers for assessing the effectiveness of treatment.
Job description:
We are looking for an excellent researcher with a strong expertise in the field of basic and/or translational research in tumor immunology, especially in skin tumors, to lead an independent junior research group. Candidates with an outstanding scientific track record and research program will have the opportunity to contribute to the strategic development of HI-TRON and the local research environment.
Dedicated interaction with researchers at HI-TRON Mainz, all HI-TRON partners, “Forschungszentrum für Immuntherapie” (FZI) and the Department of Dermatology is expected, as well as initiation and participation in joint funding programs with the Johannes Gutenberg University, the University Medicine Mainz and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ). A broad national and international collaboration profile and skillful application of innovative technologies relevant for dermaoncology are an advantage.
Independent junior research groups will be established for a period of 5 years. Junior research groups are funded at an internationally competitive level.
Requirements:
Eligible applicants are scientists (with master's degree (M.Sc.), PhD, MD, or MD-PhD degrees) with less than 6 years of postdoctoral experience at the time of application (periods of parental leave, care leave, or unavoidable downtime will be considered). Periods of clinical training or full-time employment in industry after the doctorate may also be considered up to four years. Applicants must have international research experience and must be successful in obtaining external funding.
Applications should include a CV, list of publications and a 3-4 page research synopsis that both summarizes current / past research accomplishment and outlines of the candidate's research program for the next 5 years.
