Junior Research Group Leader (f/m/x) to conduct independent research in human genetics and functional medicine
This appointment is available for applicants holding a PhD, MD/PhD or MD degree and will be offered for a period of five years according to WissZeitVG (Third-party funds). Payment and social benefits are in accordance with the regulations of the German salary agreement for public service employees TV-L.
The position includes funding of a research associate (Post Doc) or alternatively two PhD students and soft money for consumables. Significant institutional support, including modern laboratory space and state-of-the-art facilities in addition to career advancing training and mentoring support will be provided.
The Institute of Human Genetics/CMMC also offers an excellent scientific environment by its close interactions with Collaborative Research Centers and Research Units of the DFG on the Campus, the local Max-Planck Institutes for Biology of Ageing and for Metabolism Research, the Cologne Excellence Cluster CECAD, the Cologne Center for Genomics (CCG) and the Center for Integrated Oncology (CIO).
The Institute of Human Genetics seeks to appoint candidates with an innovative human genetic and biomedical research interest in addition to an excellent track record in research, the capacity to establish and further develop an international research team to develop independent research programs with extramural funding and to complement the existing strengths and the interdisciplinary and collaborative nature of the Institute of Human Genetics. Motivation to further develop academic teaching experience and qualifications (e.g. support to obtain the Habilitation will be provided) is expected.
