The junior professorship is to be funded in the context of the Einstein Center Digital Future. The professorship is offered
under the reserve that funds are granted.
|IV-443/16 (starting at 01/04/17 / for a period of 3 years; an extension of 3 more years is possible

|The TU Berlin aims to strengthen the research and teaching in the area of "Control of Convergent
Access Networks". Focus of research is the analysis and development of architectures, methods, and algorithms in convergent
access networks and evaluation of technological and economical implications. The developed architectures
should manage and connect different access resources based on the demands of the current communication scenario.
The complexity of the heterogeneous network access has to be designed in an abstract manner and thus transparent for
the end user. Innovative knowledge and results in the areas of self-organized networks, cognitive radio and network
function virtualization as well as utilization of technological features of modern user devices are expected.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the curriculum in the study programs provided by the faculty.
Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance
with § 102a BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education in computer science, electrical
engineering, mathematics or similar, qualified achievements in research and a particular qualification for academic
work normally attested by the excellent quality of a PhD, and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be proven by teaching
experience and visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website, quick as no. 144242).
Profound knowledge and experience are expected in several of the following themes:
- Knowledge of existing access technologies (FTTx, LTE-A, 5G, WiFi, LiFi etc)
- Protocols and algorithms for traffic management and resource control
- Self-organizing networks and heterogeneous networks
- Systematic evaluation of technological features for different access technologies
- Simulation and modeling of algorithm and protocol behavior in convergent carrier networks
- Activity in relevant standardization bodies such as IETF, BBF, 3GPP
- Teaching experience
Additionally the applicants need to have profound knowledge in the stated working fields, experience in international
research cooperations (proven by stays abroad or significant participation in international projects).
