The German International University (GIU) is a German cultural institution located in the New
Administrative Capital, Egypt, and established under the frame of the Cultural Agreement of 1960
and 1984 concluded between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany.
GIU was established in cooperation with the German State Universities of Applied Sciences,
notably
HTW Berlin, HWR Berlin, TH Ulm, and HHN.

Lecturer in Mathematics
Job profile:
We are looking for highly able and motivated applicant wishing to join the Mathematics
Department. Successful candidate will be expected to contribute in undergraduate and graduate
teaching in international master programs, as well as in courses for programs of other
departments, Research in the field of applied mathematics with emphasis on the analysis and the
numeric of problems in engineering and inverse problems, Collaboration in research programs and
in interdisciplinary cooperation projects and Independent teaching of courses in the field of applied
mathematics, scientific computing, supervision of students and holding of exams, as well as
Participating in organizational and administrative work.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a doctorate/PhD in a mathematical branch of study, also he should have a
solid knowledge of mathematical methods in engineering, inverse problems, and numerical
mathematics. Applicants should have the knowledge of functional analysis, geometric measure
theory, computer science aspects of scientific computing, parallel algorithms, parallel and
distributed high-performance computing, development and integration of scalable simulation
systems, numerical simulation techniques, simulation of stochastic systems, discrete and
combinatorial methods, application of simulations in science and engineering and continuous
mathematical optimization.
Successful candidates are expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate or graduate
teaching. Preference will be given to candidates who have a record of accomplishment in
independent and applied research.
Appointment Terms
The position is to be filled by the Winter semester (September 2021). Appointment to this position
will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Positional classification (lecturer,
assistant, or full professor) and salaries will be matching the qualifications and relevant experience
of the candidate. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual
agreement.
