Linguistics and Modern Languages is a vibrant Department established in 2004, devoted to the study of language and
mind. Its dynamic and multi-cultural Modern Languages Section offers Minors in German, French, Spanish and Korean.
Applicants should have (i) native or near native language proficiency in German; (ii) a relevant Master’s degree
or above; (iii) linguistics training background; (iv) at least two years of experience in teaching courses in German as
a foreign/second language (v) an interest in the development of language teaching methodology and second language
acquisition; and (vi) experience in curriculum development. Experience in teaching Asian learners is an advantage.
The appointee will (i) teach German language courses on the levels of A1-A2 including specialized courses (such as
courses on German conversation and pronunciation); (ii) teach courses in English, e.g. German Cinema, Culture or
Literature; and (iii) coordinate German language courses of different levels with a team of part-time teachers.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to two years commencing August 2017, renewable subject
to performance, funding and mutual agreement.
