The Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology (Director Prof. Dr. M. Schwab) is operated by the Robert Bosch Foundation. Since its foundation in 1973, the institute has emerged as Germany's largest and most renowned scientific research unit in the field of clinical pharmacology. Main research activities concentrate on the influence of genetic and non-genetic factors on variability of drug efficacy and their contributions to disease development.
Currently, we are looking for a
in the field of “metabolomics & drug response”
The qualified candidate will be given the opportunity to integrate into a metabolomics/lipidomics project for the investigation of drug-induced metabolic alterations in humans. The work will be performed in the analytical lab at the IKP Stuttgart in close cooperation with our biostatistical core facility. Development and validation of a non-targeted metabolomics profiling method for human plasma/serum is part of the project. The established method will be applied to a clinical cohort in order to reveal novel markers of drug response. Markers will be selected based on biostatistical data evaluation (unsupervised machine learning, metabolic pathway and network analysis) and annotated/identified accordingly. In order to validate findings from the non-targeted metabolomics experiment, the development and validation of targeted assays is envisioned for a subset of metabolites.
• Successful completion of B.Sc. degree in the field of analytical science, biomedical sciences or related engineering subjects
• Strong interest and first experience in analytical method development and application (e.g. mass spectrometry)
• Interest in biostatistical evaluation of comprehensive metabolomics data sets.
• Good knowledge in spoken and written English
• Ability to work independently and as part of an international Team
