Call for Membership Applications

The Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) is pleased to announce its Call for Membership Applications 2022. AGYA promotes research cooperation among excellent early-career researchers (3-10 years after PhD) from all disciplines affiliated with a research institution in Germany or any Arab country. The academy supports interdisciplinary projects by its members in various fields of research, science policy, and capacity building. AGYA members from 23 countries can realize innovative projects and joint initiatives on topics such as Arab and German Education; Common Heritage and Common Challenges; Dynamics of Transformation; Energy, Water and Environment; Health and Society; and Innovation. AGYA is based at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW) in Germany and at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT) in Egypt. AGYA is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and several Arab and German partners. Benefits:

Eligibility:

• Early-career researchers (3-10 years after PhD) from any field of the Natural Sciences, Life Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences, Technical Sciences, and the Arts
• Affiliation with a university or a research institution inGermany or any Arab country (Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen)
• Full command of English, both spoken and written

Requirements:

• Proven record of research excellence in any field of specialization
• Strong potential for leadership and advancement in academia
• High motivation to engage in AGYA activities and interdisciplinary research projects of the academy
• Genuine interest to address common challenges and develop sustainable solutions through innovative research

Interested applicants are required to submit the following documents in English:

• CV, including a list of publications and a scan of the PhD certificate
• Letter of motivation
• Two academic reference letters
