The Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology in Plön (Schleswig-Holstein) consists of three departments (Evolutionary Genetics, Evolutionary Theory and Microbial Population Biology), and multiple department-independent research groups. It is focused on basic research to unravel general evolutionary processes. The scope of the work includes ecological, organismic, cellular, molecular and theoretical approaches.
At the earliest possible date, we are looking for a full-time
Personal Assistant (m/f/div) / Referent*in
to the Managing Director.
The ideal applicant will have a degree in science, be highly motivated and have excellent organization skills.
This is a two-year position with the expectation that it will become permanent subject to successful performance appraisal.
You will
- Play a central role in management of the institute, including all matters relating to compliance
- Coordinate contributions to annual and business reports
- Prepare reports, statistics, and evaluations as well as information brochures for committees, politicians, the public, and for the General Administration of the Max Planck Society
- Define processes for information flow for standard procedures, monitoring, and adjustment of procedures
- Develop and establish concepts for press and public relations work
- Supervise the institute's website and intranet
- Develop concepts for coordination of alumni affairs
We expect from you
- A background in science and ideally with managerial or administrative experience, preferably in a scientific environment (a research institute, university or similar)
- A high level of organizational ability
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
- Knowledge of public funding law
- Experience in use of standard administration software
- Awareness of and sensitivity to intercultural differences
- Good self-management and the ability to work independently
- Enthusiasm for working in an international environment
- Very high communication competence
