PhD Student (f/m), RNA regulators in Clostridium difficile
Institute for Molecular Infection Biology (IMIB)
PhD Student, RNA regulators in Clostridium difficile
The junior research group of Franziska Faber invites applications for a doctoral student position to work on noncoding RNA regulators in the human pathogen Clostridium difficile. We are interested in the discovery and characterization of functional noncoding transcripts as well as their cognate RNA-binding proteins. For relevant techniques, take a look at the following publications (Soutourina et al. (2013) PLoS Genet. (5):e1003493, Smirnov A et al. (2016) PNAS 113:11591-6; Michaux C et al. (2017) PNAS 114:6824-6829).
The successful applicant will work in the dynamic environment of the IMIB and the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI). Applicants are required to hold or to obtain a first-class or upper second class Master degree in biology, biochemistry, microbiology or a related relevant biological subject. They should have excellent theoretical knowledge of molecular biology and good laboratory skills. Pre-experience or a strong interest in bioinformatics is very favorable. The PhD-student-position (TV-L E13, 50%) is available for three years, starting on April 1st, 2018. Salary will be based on the pay scale for the public sector in Germany (TV-L) and comply with qualification.
We welcome applications from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community regardless of race, gender or disability. The University aims to increase the proportion of female employees, therefore applications from qualified women are particularly welcome. Preference will be given to people with disabilities in the case of otherwise equal aptitude.
For informal inquiries, please contact Monika Meece (firstname.lastname@example.org). Applications should include a short cover letter, CV and publication list, copies of relevant documents and contact information for academic references as a single PDF file.
Send your application by February 15, 2018 via email to email@example.com.
