The Division of Signaling and Functional Genomics is seeking a
Postdoc – High-content
Screening
(Ref-No. 2022-0032)
The Division of Signaling and Functional Genomics, headed by Prof. Dr. Michael Boutros at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate tumor-immune interactions by using high-content screening approaches. Our group is interested in signaling pathways important for development, stem cell homeostasis and disease. One major focus is on Wnt signaling in colorectal cancer. We study principle mechanisms of signaling pathways and how they are dysregulated in cancer by high-throughput functional genomic approaches.
Description:
In a collaborative project with partners at Heidelberg University, we are analysing tumor-immune cell interactions with the aim to generate novel approaches for therapy prediction in patients. We will make use of patient-derived organoids in co-culture with immune cells (PDIOs) as model system to perform cell-based screens for novel mono- or combination therapies of drugs or antibodies, which potentially co-target tumor-immune cell interactions. The candidate will be responsible to establish screening assays for PDIO cultures and perform high-content drug perturbation screens by high-throughput confocal microscopy. Data will be analysed in close collaboration with computational biologists. Based on findings of these screens the candidate will generate organoid models with specific genetic alterations by CRISPR/Cas9 for target identification and validation to explore the mode of action of therapeutics with respect to the activation and effector state of innate immune cells.
Your profile:
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in cell and molecular biology, functional genomics and cell culture. Candidates should have an advanced academic degree (Ph.D.) in biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or related field and have published previously in peer-reviewed journals. Prior experience in high-throughput screening approaches and image analysis are beneficial. Curiosity and ability to work in interdisciplinary projects is expected. The candidate should feel comfortable with high-tech work environment, and constant learning of new tools and innovations. The succesful candidate should be able to work independently and also have excellent team working skills. The position further requires organizational qualifications and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external collaborators. An excellent written and oral command of English is essential.
The application shall include a CV, a letter of motivation, degree certificates and names and contact information of at least two references.
We offer:
- Interesting, versatile workplace
- International, attractive working environment
- Campus with modern state-of-the-art infrastructure
- Salary according to TV-L including social benefits
- Possibility to work part-time
- Flexible working hours
- Comprehensive further training program
- Access to the DKFZ International Postdoc Program
The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of prolongation.
The position can in principle be part-time.
