Postdoc in New Breeding Techniques for Re-domestication of Barley
Starting Date and Period
The position is for 2 years and four months and is available from May 1st 2020 or as soon as possible hereafter. The position may be extended beyond the two years and 4 months.
The PostDoc is part of the project NOVOCrops and the PostDoc will be part of a team associated with the new Research Centre for Crop Domestication at Aarhus University and Copenhagen University. The PostDoc will use new breeding techniques like e.g. CRISPR and develop new germplasm from wild accessions.
Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant field (Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Plant Science, Genetics) and have strong Academic skills.
Candidates with the following experiences will be preferred:
Experience with plant tissue culture and/or genetic transformation of plants (preferentially from cereals).
Experience in molecular biology.
Experience with Genetics.
Who we are
Section of Molecular Biology and Genetics was the first to use New Breeding Techniques like CRISPR, TALENS and cis-genesis in barley. These technologies are today also used in a range of other crop species. The section has well established facilities for our research. This includes modern lab facilities, growth chambers supporting speed breeding, green houses and semi field facilities.

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. Formalities and salary range
Technical Sciences refers to the Ministerial Order on the Appointment of Academic Staff at Danish Universities under the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Salary depends on seniority as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Confederation of Professional Associations.
