Postdoc (m/f/d)
in the field of Battery Research
The position is part of an externally funded project and is limited until 31.12.2023 at the Junior Research Group of Dr. Anja Bielefeld at the Center for Materials Research. Depending on the availability of follow-up financing, an extension of the contract period will be targeted. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).
Your tasks at a glance
- Microstructure-resolved simulation of electro-chemo-mechanical processes in solid-state battery electrode comsposites and separators
- Electrochemical modelling and simulation using finite-element (FEM) or discrete-element (DEM) methods
- Development of electrode design guidelines for different solid-state battery concepts
- Reconstruction of 3-dimensional microstructure models from focused-ion beam-scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM) data
- Preparation of scientific publications and participation at (inter-)national conferences
- Boosting the cooperation within the Research Campus of Central Hesse by setting up future cross-site research projects
- Interdisciplinary communication and networking, particularly within the Research Campus of Central Hesse that comprises Philipps-University Marburg, Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen and Justus-Liebig-University Giessen
Your qualifications and competences
- Completed academic university degree in chemistry, physics, informatics, data science or materials science (M.Sc., diploma, first state examination or equivalent degree)
- Completed PhD in chemistry, physics, informatics, data science or materials science
- Relevant previous knowledge in the field of electrochemical energy storage and/or finite-element (FEM) or discrete-element (DEM) method simulations
- Experience in analysis of transport and interface properties of solid-state batteries is desirable
- Advanced programming skills (Python, C++, Matlab or similar) and knowledge in methods for data evaluation are desirable
- Very good knowledge of English and very good communication skills are imperative
- Interest in interdisciplinary approaches
