The Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans Knöll Institute -
investigates the pathobiology of human-pathogenic fungi and identifies targets for the development of novel antibiotics.
The Transfer Group Antiinfectives encourages talented and highly gifted candidates to apply for a
Postdoc position Analytical Chemistry (ADME | PK | DMPK)
starting as soon as possible for 24 months initially.
The successful candidate will work within a research project on drug development of a novel small molecule antibiotic. The
project is embedded in the consortium InfectControl 2020
(www.infectcontrol.de) funded by the BMBF within the initiative
"Zwanzig20 - Partnerschaft für Innovation".
Main topics of the project will include:
Drug metabolite profiling using HPLC-MS/HRMS
Isolation and purification of metabolites from complex matrices (HPLC)
Structure elucidation of metabolites (NMR, MSn)
Metabolite quantification (by radio-HPLC and MS)
Preparation of biological material (blood, plasma, urine, etc.) from animals and humans
Basics in GLP, statistics and documentation
Strong communication skills (correspondence between management, subcontractors and partners)
Our requirements: You hold a PhD in organic, analytical or natural product chemistry or pharmacy
and have profound expertise in analytical chemistry (HPLC, MS, NMR). Experience in the isolation and purification of trace
components is required as well as demonstrated expertise in analytical method development and quantification of small
molecules in complex matrices (radiolabeled and label-free). Alongside a basic knowledge on the regulatory background
of drug development (ICH, GLP) you are ready to handle biological samples from animals and human individuals. We would
like to welcome a highly motivated co-worker with excellent communication skills and the ability to work on an
interdisciplinary project with a high degree of clinical implementation. German language proficiency is advantageous
for working with regulatory authorities and funding agencies.
We offer a highly translational project with a promising perspective and laboratories equipped with
state-of-the-art instrumentation. The collaborative and constructive atmosphere at the HKI provide ideal conditions for the
success of your project. The well-established network of scientists, clinicians and subcontractors within the project offers
most efficient exchange and an excellent environment to solve interdisciplinary problems. As a postdoc you will be a member
of the Friedrich Schiller university graduate academy, which provides highly valuable competence courses.
Salary (full time) is paid according to German TV-L (salary agreement for public service employees). As an equal opportunity
employer the HKI is committed to increase the percentage of female scientists and therefore especially encourages them to apply.
