Bonn advertises a
Postdoc Position: Neuroscientist / Optical Physicist / Bioengineer (f/m/d) – Code 1932/2021/3
within the Neuroimmunology and Imaging Group.
Project description:
The Neuroimmunology and Imaging Group is interested in understanding the relationship of microglia and neurons on the subcellular level of dendritic spines (ERC-CoG MicroSynCom) during learning and memory processes in the hippocampus. We use cutting edge two-photon STED (stimulated emission depletion) in vivo imaging in the hippocampus to analyze microglia synapse interactions (Pfeiffer&Poll et al. 2018, eLIFE). The imaging experiments are combined with optogenetic, chemogenetic, histological, and behavioral experiments.
Your profile:
Successful candidates should hold a PhD in Biology (Neuroscience), Biophysics, Physics (Optics), Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related disciplines. As a prerequisite, the candidate should have experience with in vivo 2P-imaging and super resolution microscopy based on STED. Programming skills and integration of optomechanics into microscopes will be beneficial, as well as a FELASA B course or equivalent. Creative, highly motivated applicants who are willing to develop new imaging techniques and enjoy working independently as a member of a great team in a stimulating scientific environment are encouraged to apply.
We offer:
- An interesting and challenging task in a research center that works on the future topics of health research
