Postdoc position in bioinformatics (m/f)
We want to break tolerance mechanisms in Anopheles, the mosquito transmitting the malaria parasite (Plasmodium spp). After infection, the parasite manipulates the immune response and induces tolerance mechanisms in the mosquito.
We will analyze and model metabolism, signaling and regulatory networks of infected and non infected cells of the mosquito using gene expression and genomic data. We employ machine learning methods, statistics, network analysis methods, own developments determining infection specific regulation to identify specific drug targets for biocidal development. Collaboration partners in Nigeria will support these analyzes and a partner in Mali will experimentally validate promising candidates applying Crispr/Cas technology.
If you are interested in immunology, in systematically detecting functional patterns in networks or machine learning, are experienced in the analysis of high throughput data, are a good team player, have organizational talent and hold a PhD degree in bioinformatics, biology or related subjects, we are looking forward to your application.
