State-of-the-art medicine and nursing care you can rely on! Since being founded in 1815, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen has offered medicine of the highest standard and
incorporated the latest insights from medical research and state-of-the-art equipment into diagnosis and therapy. More than 9,000 employees from approximately 50 different
occupations are needed to provide the wide range of services offered by Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, ensuring our patients receive the very best care around the clock.
Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/x)
Hector-Center for Nutrition, Exercise and Sports at the Universitätsklinikum Erlangen
(Department of Medicine 1 – Gastroenterology, Pneumology, and Endocrinology)
Your tasks:
The main research topics of the Hector-Center are clinical and experimental studies regarding cancer, obesity, short gut syndrome / chronic intestinal failure, microbiota, and food
intolerances. Our translational projects always aim at improving the patients’ therapy. The importance of nutrition and exercise in the prevention and treatment of various chronic and malignant
diseases is still not fully understood. For example, advanced-stage cancer patients can develop cachexia, a multifactorial syndrome primarily characterized by a progressive weight loss and degradation
and dysfunction of skeletal muscle. One of our research focuses is how exercise and nutrition affect chronic inflammation caused by malignant tumors and how these inflammatory processes influence the
muscle metabolism in cancer patients.
We are looking for excellent and highly motivated applicants with a profound knowledge of cell biological, molecular biological, and animal experimental methods for our lab in the Translational
Research Center, a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research center at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. The applicant will support our research on the effects of exercise and nutritional supplementation
on skeletal muscle in cancer disease and will be the person in charge conducting the
in vivo experiments using a mouse cachexia model.
