Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) in the field of bioanalytics and protein characterization

The NMI is a member of the Innovation Alliance Baden-Württemberg. It is involved in application-oriented research at the interface between life sciences and material science. An interdisciplinary team of scientists is developing new technologies for companies and public research sponsors in the areas of Pharma and Biotech, Biomedicine and Materials Science, and Material Analysis and Electron Microscopy.

The Bioanalytics group at the NMI specializes in the customer-specific analysis of biologicals (including antibodies and recombinant binding proteins). At the same time, new technologies and applications are continuously being established to expand the existing method portfolio and validated in internal and collaborative research approaches. To strengthen our team we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher (m/f/d). Your tasks

• Epitope characterization and elucidation of protein-protein interaction sites using hydrogen-deuterium exchange (HDX) coupled to mass spectrometry 
• Integration of protein and peptide deglycosylation into the HDX-MS workflow 
• Characterization of intact antibodies and recombinant binding proteins by mass spectrometry (LC-MS) 
• PeptideMap analysis of antibodies and recombinant binding proteins using capLC-MS/MS 
• Support project management with organization, execution and report generation of experiments 
• Preparation of method-specific work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) in support of the method quality management 
• Design and supervision of experimental bachelor and master thesis projects

In an increasingly regulatory environment with a corresponding quality management (QM) system, you will support the group with:

• Documentation and preparation of appropriate reports for the client 
• Preparation of method-specific work instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
• Instruction and qualification of employees

Requirements

• Academic degree and doctorate (PhD) in biochemistry or comparable natural science subjects 
• Knowledge of bioanalytics, protein characterization and (HDX) mass spectrometry is a plus 
• Pro-active personality and able to work in a collaborative team and strategic project 
• Very good communication skills 
• Very good command of written and oral English
