The Division of Translation Oncology, Department of Hematology, Oncology and Immunology, University Hospital Tübingen, University of Tübingen, Germany, is offering at the earliest date possible a position for a

Postdoctoral or Group Leader (f/m)

(based on the applicant’s qualification). The Division is led by Prof. Julia Skokowa MD, PhD in a tight collaboration with Prof. Karl Welte MD. Topic: Mechanisms Operating During Hematopoiesis and Leukemogenesis.
The project is focused on the investigations of the cellular and molecular mechanisms operating during myeloid differentiation and leukemogenic transformation of hematopoietic stem cells. Study includes cell- and molecular biology investigations on human and mouse primary hematopoietic cells, cells of patients with congenital neutropenia, de novo AML and CML blasts, patients-derived iPSCs as well as mouse and zebrafish models. Main technologies of the lab are CRISPR/Cas9-based gene modifications of primary cells and cell lines, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, NGS incl. Exome- and Deep-Seq., protein biochemistry. Long tirm goal of the project is to define novel therapeutic strategies for hematological malignancies and novel tools for high-scale generation of blood cells in vitro and in vivo.
The group offers an active English-speaking international environment with the opportunity to carry out high level translational research in an exciting and rapidly moving field. The required up-to-date equipment and methodology (incl. CRISPR/Cas9-based gene modifications of primary cells and cell lines, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, NGS incl. Exome and Deep-Seq. and protein biochemistry) as well as lab and office space in a new research building will be provided. Successful applicants will have the possibility to apply their research skills in a broad collaborative environment in the fields of genetics, cell and molecular biology, biochemical studies of protein deacetylation, iPS cell models, mouse models, and zebrafish models in a tight cooperation with the phisicians from the Department of Hematology, Oncology and Immunology as well as with the Severe Chronic Neutropenia International Registry. We also offer a possibility of the tight collaboration with the Max-Planck Institute (MPI) of Developmenta Biology in Tübingen.
We are seeking a highly motivated applicant with a PhD degree, preferably in Hematology, Oncology or Immunology. Specific proven experience in blood cell biology and molecular biology and/or experience in mouse or zebrafish models of hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis would be of benefit. A strong publication record will be appreciated. Good knowledge of English (oral and written), self-motivation and ability to work independently as well in a group are essential.
The initial contract will be for a three years period, with the opportunity to get a tenure position after internal evaluation.
We offer remuneration in accordance with TV-L (collective wage agreement for the Public Service of the German Federal States) in addition to all the customary benefits granted to employees working in Public Services.
