Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f) Molecular Biology

We are seeking competent support to strengthen our team in Lübeck, starting as soon as possible. The position will be based at the Institute for Cardiogenetics/ICG (head: Prof. Dr. Jeanette Erdmann; see www.cardiogenetics-luebeck.de) at the University of Lübeck.
You will apply your molecular genetics/molecular biology skills to understand the role of genes identified in recent genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for cardiovascular disease (CVD), the number one killer in Western societies. Joining our multidisciplinary team consisting of molecular biologists, geneticists and computational scientists, you will contribute to a project which aims to further understand the role of CVD risk variants and to unravel the underlying pathomechanisms relevant for CVD. You will use cutting-edge technology, including induced human pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and mice or zebrafi sh models.

  • Analyze and interpret the findings of your research
  • Help generate original ideas based on research outcomes
  • Conduct literature and database searches and integrate the results into your own research goals
  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and publications
  • Present research progress and outcomes to colleagues
  • Actively participate in group meetings
  • Liaise with colleagues and develop both internal and external collaborations

What we expect:

  • An MSc and a doctoral degree in molecular biology or a related discipline
  • Practical experience in human cell culture techniques and in the application of a range of molecular biology methods
  • Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities
  • Strong communication skills in English and German along with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

What we offer:

This is a fixed-term position funded by the DZHK (www.dzhk.de) for two years. Weekly working time is 100% of a full-time position (currently 38.50 hours per week). Working part-time is possible. Salary will be, depending on qualifications, according to the German salary scale 13 TV-L.
