The
Faculty of Engineering invites applications for the following positions effective September 2022 (or later). Appointments are possible also for 50% of the working time.
Professor / Associate Professor in Data Science and Data Engineering
The successful candidate should build on her/his scientific and professional experience in Data Science and Data Engineering to engage in research in areas such as big data analytics, data mining, designing or implementing statistical models, statistical data analysis, big data management, infrastructures for big data, probabilistic machine learning, experimental design, visualization of statistical data, data engineering.
The appointed professor is expected to be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and will engage in supervision as well as administrative duties. She/he should actively promote graduate and undergraduate research and play a leading role in establishing her/his research group and attract third-party funded projects. The professor should actively promote research at the GIU Berlin as well as contribute to selected teaching and supervision on GUC Cairo campus to foster teaching and research collaboration.
Qualifications:
- PhD or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or related field.
- At least 3 years of work experience related to the field.
- An outstanding and internationally visible research profile in a field like Machine Learning for Social Sciences, Educational Data Mining, Visual Analytics, Applied Statistics, or Computational Linguistics.
- Excellent scientific achievements, documented by internationally recognized publications.
- Track record of collaborative research, proven ability to attract research funding, and successful supervision.
- Excellent teaching ability at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- High capacity to develop pedagogical innovations and to manage a study programme.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
- Proficiency in English (oral and written).
