The
Faculty of Engineering invites applications for the following positions effective September 2022 (or later). Appointments are possible also for 50% of the working time.
Professor / Associate Professor in Electric Drives
The successful candidate will engage in teaching, research, supervision and administrative duties. She/he will establish and lead a research group in the area of Electric Drives and actively promote graduate and undergraduate research. The appointed professor is expected to play a leading role in establishing the research group and attract third-party funded projects in any chosen areas of interest in electric drives and renewable energy. The professor should actively promote research at the GIU Berlin as well as contribute to selected teaching and supervision on GUC Cairo campus to foster teaching and research collaboration.
The appointed professor should also support the teaching activities by developing and taking responsibility of courses such as Power Electronics, Electric machines, Electric Drives, Power system, renewable energy system etc. The professor will contribute to selected teaching and supervision also on GUC Cairo campus to foster teaching and research collaboration. The appointed professors will have the flexibility to develop the curricula to their own research interests.
Qualifications:
- PhD or doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Outstanding research and teaching record in at least two of the following fields: electric drives, power electronics renewable energy systems, power devices and systems.
- Excellent scientific achievements, documented by internationally recognized publications.
- Track record of collaborative research, proven ability to attract research funding, and successful supervision.
- Excellent teaching ability at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- High capacity to develop pedagogical innovations and to manage a study programme.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
- Proficiency in English (oral and written).
