The German International University of Applied Sciences (GIU-AS) is a German cultural institution located in the New Administrative Capital, Egypt, and established under the frame of the Cultural Agreement of 1960 and 1984 concluded between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany. GIU- AS was established in cooperation with the German State Universities of Applied Sciences, notably HTW Berlin, HWR Berlin, TH Ulm, and HHN.

The university offers industry-focused and future-oriented Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in different specializations and majors, in the Faculties of Engineering, Informatics and Computer Science, Business Administration and Design.

The Faculty of Design invites applications for the following position effective February 2021 or September 2021.

Job Profile
We are looking for a designer, with sound practical and development knowledge in the field of user experience, the successful candidate is expected to be aware of the development process of industrially manufactured products and the applied design methodology, and is expected to initiate and develop projects in an interdisciplinary context. Successful candidates are expected to have proven artistic and design qualifications.

Qualifications

• Candidates should have a university degree in industrial or product design.
• Appropriate teaching experience in design courses and relevant experience in applied research and development.
• Design-relevant skills, design-conceptual basics as well as prototyping, and CAD knowledge.
• It is desired that the future job holder establishes national and international research in the field in the context of the study program and designs and implements corresponding projects
• Experience in team-based work in line with industry standards and participation in academic self-administration is explicitly expected.
• As the program is currently new, active participation in the development of the studios, workshops is expected.
• Communication skills and knowledge of common software applications.
• English language skills

Appointment Terms
The position is to be filled by the Spring Semester (February 2021) or winter semester (September 2021). Appointment to this position will initially be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Positional classification (lecturer, assistant, or full professor) and salaries will be matching the qualifications and relevant experience of the candidate. Continuation of appointment beyond the initial term will be subject to mutual agreement.
