Internationale Hochschule Liebenzell is an accredited private Christian University of Applied Sciences combining an academic focus with a strong emphasis on application and practice, upholding the tradition of the Lutheran Reformation, Wuerttemberg Pietism, and world mission. In its confession of faith the IHL is committed to the Christian Bible which is understood as a „true, precise preaching of the Holy Spirit“ (Confessio Virtembergica, 1552), the creeds of the Early Church and the Lutheran Reformation, as well as the Lausanne Covenant. The IHL is committed to world mission.
IHL provides a holistic concept of study through teaching based on rigorous academic research and a strong focus on its practical implementation. IHL focuses on building up individuals to be able to spread the Gospel in various contexts at home and abroad with both a missionary heart and a theologically sound understanding, which is culturally sensitive and personally authentic.

The IHL will establish the position of a
and seeks to fill the position beginning February 2023. The successful candidate will teach classes and seminars in the following five academic programs: “B.A. Evangelische Theologie”, “B.A. Theologie/
Pädagogik im interkulturellen Kontext”, “B.A. Theologie/Soziale Arbeit im interkulturellen Kontext”, “B.A. Theology/Development Studies” (English only), and “M.A. Theologie – Gemeinde – Weltchristenheit.”
IHL expects from the successful candidate a record of internationally recognized academic scholarship and publications in both research areas, Intercultural Theology and Religious Studies; competences in empirical research; at least 5 years of occupational experience in an intercultural and interreligious environment; experience of teaching in various cultural settings and fluency in English and German.
For research in intercultural and interreligious contexts we expect language skills in a third, non-European language. The successful applicant should be able to strengthen the research performance of IHL.
According to § 47 LHG of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, applicants must have a doctoral degree, 5 years of occupational experience (3 of 5 years outside of the academic realm), and the demonstrable
ability to teach in an academic setting.
In addition, the successful candidate will involve him-/herself in research projects which strengthen the mission of the IHL and contribute to the wider academic and ecclesial discourse in compliance with our confession of faith. Moreover, he/she will actively participate in the academic self-governance of the IHL. Besides academic qualifications, all faculty members must identify with the confession of faith and the preamble of the Primary Statute of IHL (

a Protestant denomination.
The salary will be according to the internal salary scale.
