The School of Mechanical Engineering seeks applications to consolidate its materials
science competence in atomic layer deposition for the control of functional photonic
and mechanical properties of ceramic-based material systems. The successful applicant
will have the opportunity to participate in the SFB 986 Tailor-Made Multiscale Materials
Systems – M3 and the Center for Integrated Multiscale Materials Systems (CIMMS). We
are looking for an ambitious young researcher in the field of self-assembly and sintering
of ceramic nano- and microparticles with in-depth knowledge and experience in preferably
at least one of the following areas:
Atomic layer deposition of ceramic materials systems
Photonic properties of ceramics
Manufacturing nano- and microparticle-based composites
by means of self-assembly and 3D printing
Mechanical properties of ceramics and hierarchical materials systems.
The TUHH acknowledges exceptional and innovative teaching achievements and capabilities.
The successful applicant will contribute to its prominent profile of innovative teaching
with high quality undergraduate (B.Sc.) and graduate (M.Sc.) courses in mechanical engineering,
materials science and related degree programs. The courses are in English and
German; from non-German speakers a willingness to learn German is expected.
The initial appointment will be for three years, with the possibility of renewal for a further
three years after a positive interim evaluation. Following another positive evaluation in the
final year, the candidate is tenured at a professorial level (W3). The appointment is due to
commence in the 2021 summer semester.
